REFLECTION
Experience
Throughout this semester, I find that advanced typography offers a more enjoyable and profound experience compared to typography. I've learned a great deal more. Each time I presented my designs and received feedback from Mr. Vinod, it served as a motivating push to improve, especially in Task 1 Exercise 2. Now that I've learned these methods, I can create more sophisticated and refined artwork. I've gained the ability to create my own fonts. However, there's a crucial aspect I aim to develop further: the ability to critique my own work without solely relying on a lecturer's feedback. Mastering this self-evaluation skill is the next step in my journey toward artistic autonomy.
Observation
Upon observation, I've come to appreciate the multitude of rules governing typography; these guidelines have been instrumental in refining the appearance of my artwork. Task 1 Exercise 1, in particular, highlighted how applying to typographic principles can significantly enhance the visual appeal of a piece. The typographic system exercises have been a revelation, unlocking many possibilities for creating dynamic typography posters. I also noticed that time management is key. When I effectively allocate my time, the quality of my artwork improves, and I can consistently meet deadlines. It's a balance that greatly impacts the outcome.
Findings
I found that using brush strokes to create fonts is, from my perspective, an easier way compared to a complicated way like using the pen tool and shapes. Designing a typeface could be a very long process, but when you focus on each stroke and detail, it gradually comes together into something unique and captivating. I found that what I learned in Task 2 can apply in the future, like designing branding for a brand or a celebrity or influencer. I also find that I can use Task 1 Exercise 2 to create any type of fonts. I find that exercise to be quite fun, and I can create a font type using that method.
