TASK 3 : CHARACTER DESIGN EXECUTIONS
Task 3 is a continuation of Task 2. In this task, we are to create hero poses similar to the splash art in Genshin Impact.
1. Poses
I researched some of the current poses in Genshin Impact to understand their art style and compiled them into a mood board.

In Task 2, I have already created 4 poses. I recall the poses I have done, but I would like to explore more.

So I created four more sketches of the poses in the splash art style. I wanted to depict the sand in a circular motion and experimented with different hand gestures and leg positions. For my final pose, I chose number four.

I began by drawing the outline for my pose using a thin line to ensure precision. I placed a grey silhouette behind the outline. This grey silhouette serves as a base layer, making it easier to see the boundaries of the different sections and allowing me to apply colors more accurately.
2. Outline & Silhouette

For the splash art effect, I illustrated the sand and her sand silhouette in an attacking movement. Since her power involves disappearing into sand, I believe this effectively represents her geo abilities. The dynamic sand elements convey motion and power, emphasizing her connection to the earth and sand in a visually compelling way.

The next step was to start painting. I painted part by part, so I didn't follow the typical sequence of base layer, then second, third, etc. I decided to use whites, gold, and shades of blue and turquoise to make her look elegant and royal. I also made the cloth on her hand sheer by lowering the opacity. Additionally, I added some details and highlights to complete the coloring. For me, the hair is the hardest part to color.
2. Painting Process

Then, I proceeded to color her background avatar, adding a sand effect. After coloring the gradient of the sand, I added a noise effect to enhance the sand texture. Underneath, I also added a motion effect to give depth to the sand.

FEEDBACKS
Week 9: Number 4 is good; I like that she's like "Hi~." You can continue developing with Number 4.
REFLECTIONS
This task had the shortest due date and was the quickest to finish. I pushed myself to complete it in a shorter time to avoid procrastination. Additionally, I already had a clear idea of the pose I wanted to create from Task 2. The coloring part was a bittersweet experience for me. Although the process was enjoyable, it took me a long time to add all the intricate details. The challenge was balancing the fun of coloring with the need for precision and attention to detail, which made the task both rewarding and time-consuming. To ensure the colors aligned with what I expected, I selected and blended various shades, paying special attention to the transitions and highlights. The patterns and textures required careful layering and adjustments to achieve the desired effect.
