TASK 2 : CHARACTER DESIGN DEVELOPMENT

Task 2 is a continuation from Task 1, where we explore the hero poses and facial expressions.

1. Poses Exploration

Based on the characteristics of my character, she is an Egyptian god, so she is meant to be elegant. Since I haven't decided on a weapon yet, I created two different weapons with four poses each. I also added some sand elements to represent the location and her element, geo.

During the class, I did more exploration of the poses. I chose poses 2 and 3, removed the spear, and replaced it with a book. Additionally, I created two more extra poses after Miss Anis asked us to try to do the fast sketching poses exercise.

2. Expression Exploration

To match her aura, her expression will also be elegant and serious. Her eyebrows are slightly lowered and angled inward. Her mouth is in a neutral or very slight smile. A closed mouth with a subtle, almost imperceptible upward curve at the corners can give a composed and regal look.

3. Weapon Design Exploration

Book design 1 features a central ankh symbol with wings, framed by ornamental corners and side designs. Hieroglyphics run along the spine of the book, and there is a small dangling charm at the bottom. The second book displays a king cobra in the center, encircled by a decorative border. The spine has vertical lines and hieroglyphics, and there is a pointed charm hanging from the bottom. Book 3 cover shows a winged sun disk with a central circular element. The spine has a similar style to Book 1 with hieroglyphics and a tassel with a dangling charm at the bottom. The fourth book has outstretched wings and an ankh at the top. The side of the book includes hieroglyphics and symbols, and a small decorative charm is attached at the bottom. Book 5 cover features a scorpion design in the center, framed by geometric patterns. The spine has hieroglyphics and vertical lines, with a spherical charm hanging from the bottom.

5. Outfit Design Exploration

Outfit 1 features a traditional Egyptian headdress with a central cobra element. The top is a sleeveless, cropped design with an elaborate necklace. The skirt has a high-low hem with hieroglyphic patterns, and the outfit is accessorized with arm bands and a belt with hanging ornaments. Outfit 2 includes a modern take on an Egyptian-inspired headband. The dress is sleeveless with a fitted bodice and a high-waisted, pleated skirt. The skirt has vertical panels with hieroglyphics, and the belt and choker add to the ancient aesthetic. Designs 3, 4, and 5 are inspired by a gothic Wednesday Addams dress, these outfits incorporate black sheer gloves and blend dark, elegant elements with Egyptian motifs. Design 3 features a bob-style haircut, off-the-shoulder sheer sleeves, a lace overlay bodice, and a short, layered skirt. Design 4 includes a flower crown, ankh pendant choker, puffed sleeves, a corset-style bodice, and a full pleated skirt. Design 5 has a feather-detailed headband, a sleeveless cropped top, intricate arm cuffs, a high-waisted layered skirt, and a cross choker. These designs combine modern and gothic fashion with traditional Egyptian aesthetics to create unique, elegant looks.

For the alternative outfits, I wanted to create a Halloween theme inspired by Wednesday Addams' iconic look. The outfits will feature sheer black material and lace elements, capturing the dark and elegant essence of her style. I want to design a sheer black dress with lace detailing, paired with a high collar, a fitted bodice, and lace gloves.

6. Development

I combined the number 3 top with a number 4 skirt, I'm also reusing elements from the default outfit such as the hairband from the falcon wing, elements of the ankh, and the scorpion behind her back. Since her default outfit has a heavy headdress, I decided to make her more comfortable for the alternative outfit (Halloween themed).

I colored the alternative outfit mostly with dark colors. The skirt has sheer pieces around the bottom, and she's wearing a block sheer glove and leggings. I also added many gold accessories to show her elegance. Her hairband is also made of gold.

The name of my weapon is "Mirage Ankh." The weapon type is a catalyst, and it combines elements of illusion and ancient Egyptian symbolism.
  • Mirage: Refers to an optical illusion, often seen in deserts, symbolizing deception and the power to create false images or impressions.
  • Ankh: An ancient Egyptian symbol representing life, wisdom, and protection. Combined with falcon wings in your design, it enhances the mystical and powerful aura of the weapon.

FEEDBACKS

Week 7: I like that she's wearing a corset in design number 3, and I like her skirt with a chain belt around it in design number 4.

Week 6: Weapon one is nice; you can tell where she comes from even from afar. It represents her well. The last pose makes more sense.

Week 5: You can take two and three and copy and try to see how she can hold her book. You can make sand silhouette to represents her power.

REFLECTIONS

Throughout this task, I focused on developing my elegant Egyptian god character with powers of deception and illusion. I explored various hero poses, incorporating sand elements to highlight her geo powers, and refined her elegant and serious expressions. In weapon design, I created book weapon inspired by Egyptian symbols, eventually naming my catalyst weapon "Mirage Ankh." I experimented with traditional and gothic-inspired outfits, combining elements to create unique designs. I'm quite happy with how it turned out in color. It took me a couple of days to color because I care very much about details.
